The use of optical fibre provides many advantages including:

All products are CE and UL approved. Most products can
be supplied for standalone use or for rack mounting installation. Power
lines are protected by solid state limiters that provide for automatic
reset. Internal DC power supplies ensure that all products are unaffected by
short circuits in other unit in rack mount configurations. rack mount
modules are 'hot swappable' with no risk of damage to other units during
replacement.
Systems are available with a comprehensive range of products for data
(RS232, RS422, RS485, TTL, E1 and T1); contact closures; video only; video
and pan, tilt and zoom control data (simplex or full duplex); video and
audio; and combined video, audio and data.
Typical applications include CCTV, access control, intercom, concierge, PMR
radio and video confercing systems.
Fibre optic multiplexers are available for transmitting up to 16 full
bandwith real-time video channels or up to four audio channels over one
optical fibre.
Short, medium and long range systems can be provided.
Other equipment can be provided allowing for transmission of broadcast TV,
satellite, telephony and computer network signals.
